Refrain From Losing Money to Play Online Poker

Refrain From Losing Money to Play Online Poker – Millions of people play online poker today either as a recreational hobby, or as a way to make extra money. One of the most overlooked skills when playing online poker is the ability to keep your mind alert during a session, especially if you play three or more tables at once. How many times after the session when you look back over the history of your hands do you complain of disgust at the stupid mistakes you made due to a lack of concentration?

One of my clear signs on deposit pulsa idn poker when I’m getting tired or losing some of my mental concentration is to call 3 bets out of position with pocket pairs hoping to hit a set. This is a lost game in the long run, your brain knows this, but because of exhaustion, you still make that loss call.

Or another example is a tight player who has never bet any way in the hand against you and is now two hours into the session that you call with AQ in position and the board runs out of rainbows QT7, 4, 2 and the tight regular bet runs out all three streets and the river bet is $. 40 to a $ 50 pot. Your brain tries to say fold because it never doubles the barrel before, the only hand you can beat is KQ whose opponent will most likely check the turn or river for control of the pot. But mental exhaustion kicked in and the brain naturally ingrained curiosity came in and we clicked on the call and he showed a set of tens.

You’re lying to yourself (or an excellent poker player) if you say this doesn’t happen to you on a regular basis. If you don’t believe me, go back to the last 20k hand you played and see how many times you call the third bullet in the river and actually win one hand. Try and justify your reasons for screaming against that particular player. I’m sure you won’t find much.

So how do we ensure that we stay mentally alert during a session? Well I believe there is a lot to go through.

If you are a newcomer to online poker and you have reached the stage where you are playing at least 4 tables at once, I would recommend a 5 minute break for every 60 minutes of play. So get a drink, use the bathroom, get some fresh air, then come back to a new level of concentration.

If you are an intermediate or experienced online poker player then I recommend an honest self-assessment plan. This is what I use and I can vouch for its benefits. Imagine that you have a top-notch poker coach sitting behind you watching every move you make. You have to articulate in your head (or out loud) exactly every game you make even if it raises the pre-flop and gives you a reason to do it. When you stop doing this, then it is time to rest because you are mentally tired. From my own experience I have found after two hours from this you will start to get tired, so once again take a 5 minute break, rehydrate, eat a healthy snack if hungry to increase energy levels and start playing again.

Try the above and you will see instant results on the poker table. You can now play longer after you apply short pauses when needed.…
